Hi Renee! Just listened to your podcast. I read the entire Dark Materials series which I loved.

I would suggest that the winter books of books is SNOW COUNTRY by Kawabata. I will be posting on it soon as per I have to read for a TBR challenge hosted by Miz Books. You can SMELL winter in this book it is that descriptive. Though it is not about winter per say the season & place that the author choses is pivotal to the story.

I am from Montreal and here in Canada, especially Quebec the mega winter book is a kids one called THE HOCKEY SWEATER. http://www.amazon.ca/Hockey-Sweater-Roch-Carrier/dp/0887761690/sr=8-1/qid=1168454525/ref=pd_ka_1/702-7492357-9570426?ie=UTF8&s=books
It is such an AMAZING story and though simple everyone here understands it. We have all experienced this whether we like hockey or not.
