Sesame Street Unpaved by David Borgenicht
E and I watched "The World According to Sesame Street" on DVD the other night. It's a documentary about developing the TV production in different countries around the world, and how the producers attempt to incorporate as much of the native culture, art, and social issues into the programming as possible. If you're a Sesame Street fan, it's pretty fascinating.Watching the movie reminded me of the book, Sesame Street Unpaved by David Borgenicht, which I bought when it was first published in 1998, for the 30th anniversary of Sesame Street. It covers the history of the television show, trivia about all the characters (both muppet and human), transcripts from memorable clips, and song lyrics. Of course, it is full of great pictures. I spent an hour flipping through it again, revisiting the great moments I remember from my childhood.
I can't decide now, which I love more: Sesame Street or The Muppet Show?

Another great Sesame Street-type book came out this year: My Life as a Furry Red Monster: What Being Elmo has Taught me about Life, Love, and Laughing out Loud by Kevin Clash. I read it a few months ago, and it was a pretty good read.
I don't know what I like more either, The Muppet Show or Sesame Street... I also really like Fraggle Rock.
I saw that same documentary on PBS. After watching hours and hours of Sesame Street with my kids, I was surpised at how much I *didn't* know about the work they do! Amazing!! I will look for this book - and the other mentioned in the above comment. Thanks!
What a clever title! Sounds like a neat book to own. Kailana, I loved Fraggle Rock, too.
kailana- Yeah, I heard that book was coming out. There was a small bit of information about Kevin Clash in this book, but not a whole lot. He seems like a really interesting guy. But then, all muppeteers seem fascinating to me.
Stacey- I just realized afterward that it was first shown on PBS. Makes sense. I'm glad you got to see it too.
I never watched Fraggle Rock. We didn't have cable when I was a kid!
